Can Shingles Be Cured?

Can shingles be cured? This is a question asked by many people who have been diagnosed with the infection, or who are experiencing symptoms of shingles. Shingles, also called Herpeticum infection, is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox – the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The difference is that instead of the chicken pox affecting your body’s nervous system, it affects your skin, resulting in painful blisters that are similar to chicken pox symptoms.

What can you do about shingles? Once you have been diagnosed, your doctor may prescribe a course of antiviral medication to treat your infection. This course of treatment can take several weeks to complete, and it may be continued for up to two to four months before you will see any results. Once your doctor has finished treating your virus, then the only way to prevent shingles from reoccurring is to avoid contact with the allergen, which would include touching an area where the virus was previously diagnosed, such as the corner of a door handle, or being bitten by an infected animal.

Although the standard course of treatment is an antiviral medication, many doctors prefer a course of comfort drugs to alleviate the discomfort of the rashes. If you are experiencing extreme discomfort from your rashes, or your blisters are bleeding or healing excessively, your doctor may prescribe an over the counter or pharmacy shingles treatment. These remedies are not always effective. They are designed to provide temporary relief from your symptoms so that you can focus on healing properly. While they will relieve some of the pain associated with shingles, they should never be considered a cure.

Can shingles be cured? Unfortunately, once you have been diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus, you cannot get rid of it and then forget about it. Shingles will always come back because your immune system is weakened. It’s as simple as that. You need to keep up with your vaccinations and worm your pets regularly in order to protect yourself from the virus.

What causes chickenpox? The varicella-zoster virus is responsible for causing shingles, which is usually found in adults between the ages of twelve and fifty-four. However, children can also get shingles. It is not unusual for children to experience outbreaks between the ages of three and ten. The exact causes of shingles are not known, but most medical experts agree that it is caused by the varicella-zoster virus.

How do you know if you have herpes zoster? The first signs of herpes zoster will be the appearance of a red rash that appears on the top of the head. This rash may begin to develop on the face, ears, neck, arms, chest, or groin. After the first few days, the pain can become unbearable, so be sure to take care of any open wounds.

Can shingles be cured? If the rash and pain aren’t too bad, then yes, you probably can. There is a medication called zovirax which can help to relieve the pain, itching, and burning of an outbreak. This medicine is also known as Doxycycline and can be used to treat the blisters, as well as the other symptoms that occur during an outbreak. However, most doctors do not recommend this medication because of the risk of developing kidney infections when patients take the medicine.

Can shingles be cured by antiviral drugs? If you have an outbreak lasting for three days or less, your doctor may recommend that you take an antiviral medication such as Famvir or Zovirax. These medicines can help to reduce the severity of the outbreak, and lessen the pain and discomfort that come with it. They should be taken at bedtime and taken every day through three days or the time that an outbreak lasts. You should see results within a month of taking these medications.
